The Enhanced Uncirculated Gold Eagle, a commemorative coin marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, saw intense demand when it launched on May 28. The coin was sold out in less than two minutes by the United States Mint.

The limited-mintage coin's value has remained above its original price of $5,370, despite a drop in gold prices over the same period. According to eBay listings reviewed by CoinNews, the average price for ungraded coins dropped from $6,539 in May to $5,875 in July, a decrease of 10.2%.

However, coins certified at the highest numerical grade of 70 have held up better. The average price for these coins remained virtually unchanged between May and July, with an average value of $6,788 in July, which is about $913 higher than the ungraded coin's average price that month.
