Gold Expected to Surge to $5,013 an Ounce Within a Year
Gold prices are projected to surge to $5,013 per troy ounce within the next 12 months, according to delegates at the London Bullion Market Association's (LBMA) annual gathering in Sorrento, Italy. The forecast comes as gold has seen a 3% decline so far this year, largely due to the expectation of sustained higher interest rates amid the Iran war. However, gold rallied 64% in 2025, marking its largest yearly increase since 1979, and reached a record high of $5,595 an ounce in January.
A year ago, delegates at the same conference anticipated gold would reach around $4,980 by now. Additionally, a poll of conference attendees predicted silver prices would rise to $97 per ounce within a year, up from the current $61. Silver has dropped 14% this year after a 147% surge in 2025.
The LBMA conference results also forecasted increases for other precious metals. Platinum prices are expected to rise to $1,914 an ounce from the current $1,706, while palladium is projected to climb to $1,415 from around $1,174. Both platinum and palladium have experienced declines this year, with drops of 17% and 28%, respectively.
