Gold Fields Revives Northern Star Bid Amid Rising Energy Costs
Gold Fields CEO Mike Fraser has left the door open to another bid for Northern Star Resources after its initial $27.1 billion proposal was rejected.
The company could mount another offer, despite the rebuff from Northern Star.
This comes as gold prices struggle for direction due to rising energy costs and a Federal Reserve that shows little appetite for loosening policy.
Gold changed hands at $4,206.92 an ounce on the spot market, a modest gain of 0.8 percent on the day.
