Gold Holds Steady Ahead of Crucial US Inflation Data
Gold prices remained steady on Monday, holding near their seven-week high of $4,346.85 per ounce reached in the previous session.
The metal's price was almost unchanged as of 0637 GMT, while US gold futures gained 0.2% to $4,406.80 per ounce.
Gold's rally last week was supported by weak US jobs data, which increased expectations of lower interest rates from the Federal Reserve.
The Fed's September 15-16 meeting is now seen as less likely to result in a rate hike, with markets assigning less than even odds to this outcome.
