Gold Holds Steady Amid US-Iran Tensions, Jobs Data in Focus
Gold prices held steady on Tuesday as investors monitored conflicting signals from US-Iran tensions and looked ahead to key US jobs data for clues on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate path.
The precious metal was flat at $4,055.39 per ounce, while US gold futures rose 0.6% to $4,055.10.
US President Donald Trump said that talks with Iran were underway, warning it was a 'last chance' for Tehran to sign a good deal and end the five-month-old war. However, Iran denied any negotiations were being held or planned.
The conflict has driven up energy costs and stoked inflation fears, which could prompt central banks to increase interest rates to keep price pressures in check.
