Gold Jewellery Demand Cools Amid Price Volatility Ahead of Festive Season
The demand for gold jewellery in India has softened due to sharp price swings. In August, the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) Gold Price PM rose 13% to $4,386 an ounce, while domestic gold prices climbed 12% to Rs 1,58,854 per 10 grams.
The World Gold Council (WGC) has stated that while wedding-related purchases have been more resilient, there is still a shift towards lighter-weight jewellery as buyers try to manage the overall cost of purchases.
Festivals and weddings are approaching, which could boost jewellery demand as consumers may be less willing to delay purchases despite price volatility.
