Gold Price Falls 0.93% to ₹151,890 per 10 Grams Amid Interest Rate Hike
The gold price in India moved down by 0.93% on September 17th, 2026, compared to its previous close. According to Financialexpress.com, the current price of 24K gold is ₹151,890 per 10 grams, a loss of ₹1,430 from the previous day's closing price. Meanwhile, 22K gold is priced at ₹139,233 per 10 grams.
The US Federal Reserve's hawkish remarks and the central bank's decision to raise key interest rates by 25 basis points have driven gold prices sideways. Higher interest rates increase the opportunity cost of holding bullion, which has led to a decline in gold prices. However, analysts expect gold prices to remain range-bound in the near-term as markets monitor the escalations in the Middle East.
Retail investors are advised to track not just domestic rates but also international trends before making buying decisions. Jigar Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst at IndusInd Securities, predicts that MCX Gold October futures may slip to Rs. 151,000/10g as the trend is weak in the global market after the Fed Chairman's speech.
Gold prices in India continue to remain higher than in Dubai. The price of 24K gold in India is ₹151,890 per 10 grams, while in Dubai it is ₹136,305, reflecting a difference of ₹15,585 or 11.43%.
