The prices of gold and silver have surged in India. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has increased by ₹351, reaching ₹1.51 lakh. One kilogram of silver has become ₹1,070 more expensive, now priced at ₹2.29 lakh.

Commodity expert Ajay Kedia attributes the rise in prices to banks around the world, including India and China, purchasing gold. Additionally, the festive season is driving up demand for gold. As a result, Kedia predicts that gold could reach ₹1.80 lakh by the end of this year.

Silver's price may also see an increase, potentially reaching ₹3 lakh per kilogram, according to Kedia. Gold has become ₹18,000 more expensive so far in 2026 compared to last year. On December 31st, 2025, gold was priced at ₹1.33 lakh for 10 grams.
