Gold Price Plunges ₹16 as Fed Hike Odds Soar Amid US Economic Surprise
The gold rate in India today, September 25, 2026, is ₹15,267 per gram for 24-karat gold, according to the IBJA morning benchmark.
However, this price has dropped by ₹16 from its previous session's rate and by ₹64 from its recent peak. The decline is attributed to stronger-than-expected US economic data, specifically S&P Global's September PMI printing at 54.4, well above the 52.0 consensus.
The higher-than-expected PMI reading pushed money-market odds of an October Federal Reserve rate hike above 70 per cent, which in turn lifted the cost of holding non-yielding assets like gold.
