Gold Price Slips Below ₹1.54 Lakh Amid Fed Rate Bets and Trump-Iran Tensions
Gold and silver prices in India saw a correction on August 13, 2026, as they fell below their previous levels. The MCX gold price slipped to ₹1,53,593 per 10 grams, down by ₹1,289 or 0.83% from the previous day. Silver also declined by ₹2,618 or 1.10%, settling at ₹2,35,217 per kg.
The correction in prices came despite a favorable environment for bullion due to lower US inflation and reduced expectations of an interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. However, rising yields and a stronger dollar made gold relatively costly, leading to profits booking and a sell-off in bullion markets.
Gold prices had risen earlier in the week following a lower-than-expected reading on US inflation, which prompted speculators to lower their expectation of an interest rate hike. However, as the US dollar recovered and bond yields moved up, gold prices corrected, falling by around 0.5% to $4,383.53 per ounce.
