Gold Price Surges in Bangladesh Amid Rising Pure Gold Costs
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of gold in the local market. The price adjustment was made to reflect the rising cost of pure gold. As a result, 22-carat gold is now priced at Tk234,038 per bhori, including VAT.
This new rate applies to all jewellery outlets across the country and will remain effective until further notice. However, making charges may vary depending on the design of ornaments. The existing rules on ornament exchange and purchase will also remain unchanged.
The previous price adjustment was made just a day prior, when BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk3,266 per bhori to Tk229,664, including VAT. Since then, there have been numerous adjustments to gold prices in the local market, with 100 revisions so far this year.
Interestingly, while gold prices have increased, silver prices remain unchanged. The current price of 22-carat silver is Tk4,899 per bhori, including VAT. Silver prices have also seen significant fluctuations, with 61 adjustments made so far this year.
