Gold prices surged to a three-month high on August 24, 2026, due to a weakened US dollar and increased safe-haven demand. Spot gold hit levels of $4,649.08 per troy ounce, its highest since May 15, with US gold futures reaching $4,706.20.

In India, the indicative price for 24-carat gold was ₹16,397 per gram, a daily increase of ₹88 from August 23. The prices of 22-carat and 18-carat gold also rose by ₹80 and ₹61 per gram, respectively.

The domestic market remains sensitive to changes in the rupee-dollar exchange rate, which affects the cost of imports in a weakening rupee. Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) for October were quoted at ₹1,63,120 for 10 grams, up 0.42% in early trade.
