Physical gold prices in India dipped slightly on Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026, despite rising global and domestic futures markets.

The slight correction pushed retail prices for physical gold down by a single rupee per gram. This means that 24-karat gold of 99.9% purity is now priced at ₹15,414 per gram, while 22-karat jewellery-grade gold stands at ₹14,129 per gram, and 18-karat gold is priced at ₹11,560 per gram.

The drop in physical gold prices contrasts with the increase in domestic futures markets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery rose by 0.42% to ₹1,53,461 per 10 grams in early trading.

Global developments are also driving up gold prices. US gold futures for December delivery rose by 0.40% to $4,485.84 per troy ounce, supported by a 0.50% fall in the US dollar index and a cooling of 10-year US Treasury bond yields from 4.79% to 4.77%.
