On October 6, 2026, gold prices in Chennai experienced a decline of Rs 120 per sovereign. The price of the yellow metal now stands at Rs 1,09,280 per sovereign and Rs 13,660 per gram, reflecting a drop of Rs 15 per gram from the previous day. Earlier on October 5, gold was priced at Rs 1,09,400 per sovereign and Rs 13,675 per gram.
Meanwhile, silver prices in Chennai remained unchanged, continuing to sell at Rs 245 per gram (Rs 2,45,000 per kg) on October 6. This follows the same price as recorded on October 5.
Compared to last year, gold prices have seen a significant increase. On October 6, 2025, the price was Rs 88,480 per sovereign (Rs 11,060 per gram). The current price of Rs 1,09,280 per sovereign (Rs 13,660 per gram) on October 6, 2026, marks an increase of Rs 20,800 per sovereign, or about 23.50%.
Over the last five days, gold prices have fluctuated slightly. On October 5, the price was Rs 1,09,400 per sovereign (Rs 13,675 per gram), and on October 3, it remained the same. On October 2, the price was higher at Rs 1,10,200 per sovereign (Rs 13,775 per gram), while on October 1 and September 30, it was Rs 1,09,440 (Rs 13,680) and Rs 1,09,680 (Rs 13,710) respectively. Silver prices have been stable, holding at Rs 245 per gram for most of the past week.
