Gold prices in India's National Capital fell for the third consecutive day on September 24, 2026, due to a stronger US dollar and weak global trends. The price dropped by Rs 900 to Rs 1.54 lakh per 10 grams.

The decline is attributed to traders booking profits at higher levels as the dollar index rose towards 100.85. This added further pressure on bullion, according to Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst, Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.

Despite the recent weakness in gold prices, the precious metal remains significantly more expensive than it was a year ago. Akshat Garg, Head of Research & Product at Choice Wealth, notes that the 15 per cent fall in Ganesh Chaturthi sales volumes does not indicate a loss of affinity for gold among Indians.
