Gold Prices Plummet Amid Fed Rate Expectations and Volatile Markets

Gold prices have been under pressure due to expectations around the US Federal Reserve's interest-rate path. The spot gold price fell by 1.63% in early trading, while US gold futures also declined.

The domestic gold prices were volatile as well. Retail 24K gold was quoted at ₹15,267 per gram, while 22K gold was around ₹13,994 per gram in several major Indian markets. Delhi recorded slightly higher rates, while Chennai showed a marginal difference.

Silver has also witnessed significant volatility due to the weakness in bullion prices as investors reassess expectations for US interest rates. The decline in silver has been sharper than gold in some sessions, reflecting its dual role as both a precious metal and an industrial commodity.
