Gold Prices Plummet Amid Middle East Tensions
Gold prices fell on Monday as investors assessed developments in the Middle East and their potential impact on inflation and interest rates.
The spot price of gold dropped 0.3% to $4,362.60 an ounce by 04:17 GMT, while U.S. gold futures declined 0.6% to $4,400.20.
The decrease in gold prices comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States. President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face economic failure or the elimination of its leadership if it did not reach an agreement with the US.
Oil prices also declined as investors hoped for a resolution to the conflict involving Iran during a United Nations meeting this week.
