Gold Prices Plummet for Second Consecutive Day in New Delhi
Gold prices plummeted for the second consecutive day in New Delhi on Friday, falling by Rs 800 to reach Rs 1,56,200 per 10 grams. The decline was largely driven by profit-taking after a recent rally and weak global cues.
According to local traders, silver remained unchanged at Rs 2,40,000 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes). Saumil Gandhi, Senior Analyst - Commodities at HDFC Securities, attributed the fall in gold prices to weaker global cues and profit-taking by investors. He noted that gold's upside was constrained by geopolitical uncertainty.
Praveen Singh, Head of Commodities at Mirae Asset ShareKhan, stated that gold extended its decline to test support around USD 4,300 on profit booking and tentative selling as oil prices recover. He added that any disruption to regional oil supplies could revive inflation concerns and complicate the Federal Reserve's policy outlook.
