Gold Prices Rebound Amid Fluctuating World Market
Gold prices reversed their sharp decline on August 19th after fluctuating in recent trading sessions. The SJC gold bar price, listed by various businesses, was at the threshold of 141.3-144.3 million VND/tael (buying - selling), with a buying-selling difference of 3 million VND/tael.
The 9999 gold ring price also saw similar fluctuations, with Phu Quy Gold and Gems Group listing it at the threshold of 141.3-144.3 million VND/tael (buying - selling), while AIDOJI listed it at 141-145 million VND/tael (buying - selling) with a buying-selling difference of 4 million VND/tael.
World gold prices were listed around the threshold of 4,367.9 USD/ounce on August 18th, down 49 USD from the previous day. The market faces pressure from upward momentum in US government bond yields, which increases the opportunity cost of holding gold as an asset that does not yield interest.
However, recent US economic data shows signs of slowing demand in the economy, reducing expectations for a September interest rate hike by the US Federal Reserve (Fed). This is considered a factor helping to limit the decline of precious metals. Nevertheless, the market still faces the risk of inflation returning from energy prices.
