Gold prices in India bounced back on September 17, 2026, following the US Federal Reserve's rate decision. The Fed raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to a target range of 3.75% to 4.00%, clearing uncertainty that had been weighing on markets since August.

Gold prices in India rose ₹28 per gram to ₹15,344 per gram for 24-karat gold, while the 22-karat rate increased by ₹26 to ₹14,065 per gram and the 18-karat rate climbed ₹21 to ₹11,508 per gram. All rates are pre-GST and exclude jeweller making charges.

The Fed's decision had a ripple effect on global markets, causing gold prices to initially drop to $4,290 per troy ounce before rebounding to $4,320.80, up $27.90 from the previous day. India's domestic rates tracked this recovery with a ₹28 per gram gain.
