Gold Prices Retreat After Reaching Two-Month Peak
Gold prices have retreated after reaching a more-than-two-month peak on Thursday. The precious metal dropped by 0.6% to $4,495.69 per ounce by 03:31 GMT. This decline comes after gold had climbed to its highest point since June 2, with prices reaching $4,525.79 earlier in the day.
The price drop is attributed to investors booking profits after the significant increase in gold prices. On Wednesday, gold experienced a more than 4% advance, which may have triggered profit-taking among investors.
In contrast to gold's decline, US gold futures rose by 0.2% to $4,553.30. Meanwhile, other metals showed varying performances: spot silver gained 0.2% to $67.07 per ounce, platinum dropped 1.3% to $1,802.29, and palladium slid 0.2% to $1,328.06.
The fluctuations in gold prices are a normal occurrence in the market and do not necessarily indicate any underlying issues with the economy or the metal itself.
