Gold Prices Rise Ahead of US Jobs Report Amid Weakening Rate Hike Bets
Gold prices rose on Friday as investors awaited key US jobs data for clues on the Federal Reserve's monetary policy outlook.
The US dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, fell 0.20% to 101.92 points but remained on track for a weekly gain.
Traders are now pricing in just a 28% chance of an interest rate hike this month, down from around 70% earlier in the week. However, they still see an 82% probability of a rate hike in December.
The US September jobs report is due later today, and unemployment and wage growth are expected to remain stable while job creation in the world's largest economy is forecast to slow to 89,000 from 162,000 in the previous month.
