Gold Prices Rise in Indian Cities Amid Strengthened Investment Demand
Gold prices have risen across various jewellery retailer brands in major Indian cities. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the indicative retail rates of gold and silver moved higher on August 11, 2026. The 22K gold rate at Tanishq, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Kalyan Jewellers, and Joyalukkas ranges from Rs 14,220 to Rs 14,265 per gram in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram. The current price for 22K gold jewellery at these brands is Rs 14,220 per gram each across the mentioned showrooms.
IBJA's indicative retail selling rates for gold and silver on August 11, 2026 (am rates) are as follows: 24K / Fine Gold (999) Rs 15,249 per gram, 22K Rs 14,883 per gram, 20K Rs 13,572 per gram, 18K Rs 12,352 per gram, and 14K Rs 9,836 per gram. The price of silver is at Rs 2,34,280 per kg.
Prithviraj Kothari, managing director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., president of the IBJA, comments on the current gold market outlook. 'Gold climbed above $4400, a two-month high, as investment demand strengthened and China's central bank added roughly 20 tons to reserves in July, its largest monthly addition since October 2023,' he says.
Technically, according to Kothari, gold's break above $4200 points toward $4,500, while silver's move past $63 could open a path to $70-71. The next key event will be the US CPI and PPI data this week, which will shape Fed rate expectations following weak July jobs numbers.
