Gold Prices Slide as Middle East Tensions Escalate
Gold prices dipped on Monday as investors weighed in on geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and their potential impact on inflation and interest rates.
The spot price of gold fell by 0.3% to $4,362.60 per ounce at 0417 GMT after reaching a one-week high on Friday.
US gold futures also declined by 0.6% to $4,400.20 as market participants assessed the escalating situation between Iran and the US.
The Iranian military vowed to retaliate harshly against any fresh attack, while President Donald Trump warned that Iran would fail economically or face leadership changes if it didn't make a deal.
