Gold Prices Soar Above $4,600 an Ounce Amid Weaker Dollar
Gold prices have surged in August, with spot gold rising above $4,600 an ounce. The metal has gained more than 15% this month, delivering one of its best monthly performances in recent years.
The strength of bullion in international markets is supported by a weaker dollar and expectations around US monetary policy. Spot gold was at $4,677.19 an ounce, while US gold futures traded at $4,683.80.
For Indian buyers, however, the headline rate is only the starting point. GST, making charges, and other levies can materially increase the final bill. The 24K gold price in Delhi stands at ₹16,375 per gram, while 22K gold is priced at ₹15,010 per gram.
The recent rally does not necessarily change the role of gold as a portfolio diversifier, but entry price still matters for long-term investors. Buying in stages may reduce the risk of committing the entire amount at a high price for jewellery buyers.
