Gold Prices Soar Again in Bangladesh, Reaching New Heights
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,691 per bhori in the local market. The new rate is Tk 234,621, including VAT. This hike comes just a week after BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,050 per bhori on September 12.
The price of other types of gold has also increased: 21-carat gold by Tk 1,574 to Tk 224,065 per bhori, 18-carat gold by Tk 1,342 to Tk 192,398 per bhori, and traditional-method gold by Tk 1,108 to Tk 157,172 per bhori.
The price of silver jewellery has also risen. The price of 22-carat silver is now Tk 5,132 per bhori, including VAT, up from Tk 4,016 previously. Other types of silver have also increased in price: 21-carat by Tk 175 to Tk 4,957, 18-carat by Tk 175 to Tk 4,257, and traditional-method by Tk 117 to Tk 3,208.
The increases were decided at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on September 19. The new rates took effect immediately.
