Gold Prices Soar Amid Weakening Dollar, Falling Oil
Global gold prices have surged by over 2% due to heightened geopolitical risks and safe-haven demand, according to recent market trends. The spot price of gold traded at $4,370 as of 1416GMT, marking a 2.4% increase.
The rise in gold prices comes as oil prices fell to a one-week low, with Brent crude futures dropping by 2.8% to $102.86 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate crude falling by 1.77%. The weakening of the US dollar index from a seven-week high also contributed to the increase in gold prices.
Analysts pointed out that there is a strong inverse correlation between gold and energy prices due to inflationary pressures, explaining why the decline in oil prices eased pressure on the gold market.
