Gold Prices Soar Amid West Asia Tensions and Market Volatility
The price of gold in India has seen a sharp increase due to tensions in West Asia and volatility in global markets. As of September 30, 2026, the price of 24 carat gold stands at Rs 14,957 per gram, while 22 carat gold is priced at Rs 13,710 per gram, and 18 carat gold at Rs 11,218 per gram.
Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus.com, noted that the correction in gold prices has been sharp, with a fall from around Rs 1.54 lakh per 10 grams in mid-September to about Rs 1.46 lakh. He attributed this drop to the reduced probability of an October rate hike by the Fed.
The recent disruption to global energy markets has triggered a safe-haven rally, driving domestic gold prices higher alongside international spot benchmarks and foreign exchange volatility.
