Gold Prices Soar Past Rs 1.45 Lakh as Speculators Create Fresh Positions
Gold prices in India surged past the Rs 1.45 lakh per 10 grams mark on Wednesday, driven by fresh positions created by speculators and firm spot demand.
The MCX October contract for gold rose by Rs 1,151, or 0.8%, to trade at Rs 1,45,450 per 10 grams with a trading turnover of 784 lots in early trade.
Analysts attributed the rise in precious metal prices to fresh position creation by participants, which has become a trend in recent times.
Globally, gold futures in New York increased over 1.5% to US$4,140.48 per ounce.
In the domestic retail market, the 24 karat gold rate today is Rs 1,46,660 per 10 grams, while the 22 karat gold rate today is Rs 1,34,438 per 10 grams.
