Gold Prices Soar to Record High in India Amid Ongoing Rally
Gold and silver prices have surged in India's domestic market on September 9, driven by steady demand. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold has risen by ₹355 to reach ₹1.53 lakh per 10 grams.
Silver also saw a sharp jump, with prices increasing by ₹1,891 to settle at ₹2.36 lakh per kilogram. This marks a significant increase in precious metals' prices this year, with gold becoming ₹20,000 more expensive since the start of 2026.
The price of gold has climbed from ₹1.33 lakh on December 31, 2025, to its current level, while silver has risen from ₹2.30 lakh per kg at the same time last year. Market experts believe that the rally in precious metals is far from over, with strong support coming from both retail investors and global central banks.
Anindya Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Head of Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, noted that central banks around the world are continuously buying gold, which is expected to keep prices strong. He also predicted that silver could gain momentum if global economic conditions improve.
