Gold Prices Stagnate Near Seven-Week Low Amid Interest Rate Concerns
Gold prices held steady in global markets on Tuesday despite concerns that the US Federal Reserve may maintain elevated interest rates. This has kept gold near its lowest level since August 5, with spot gold hovering at $4,124.57 per ounce.
The precious metal's price has been under pressure as investors await key US economic data due later this week for clues on monetary policy direction. The data is expected to provide fresh indications about the future of interest rates and their impact on gold prices.
Other precious metals, such as silver, platinum, and palladium, have also come under selling pressure. Spot silver fell 0.6% to $60.62 per ounce, while platinum declined 1% to $1,699.86 per ounce and palladium slipped 0.5% to $1,209.08 per ounce.
