Gold Prices Stuck in Neutral as Key Resistance Zones Prove Elusive
World gold prices are struggling to maintain their upward momentum after failing to overcome key resistance zones. At 1:40 PM US Eastern time on August 3, spot gold prices rose by 1% to $4,104.59 per ounce, while August gold futures contracts in the US increased by 1.6%, closing at $4,160.60 per ounce.
However, this upward momentum was short-lived as prices turned down and fluctuated around $4,054.2 per ounce by the time of writing. The market still lacks strong enough momentum to form a clear upward trend.
The 4,150-4,200 USD/ounce zone remains a significant resistance area that gold prices need to overcome to confirm a new upward momentum. Despite futures gold prices exceeding $4,150 per ounce, the spot price has not yet approached this resistance zone consistently.
