Gold Prices Surge 1.64% in India Amid Weak Dollar

The gold price in India has seen an increase of 1.64% compared to its previous close, reaching ₹162,200 per 10 grams for 24K gold and ₹148,683 per 10 grams for 22K gold on August 21st, 2026.

This rise is largely influenced by international spot gold rates and US dollar fluctuations, which have led to a weak dollar making precious metals like gold less expensive for overseas currency holders.

Analysts expect gold prices to trade with bullish momentum driven by the weak US dollar and change in yields. Scaled-back expectations of a rate hike and robust central bank purchases are also likely to support the yellow metal, according to Jigar Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst at InduInd Securities.
