Gold Prices Surge ₹2,622 as Geopolitical Tensions and Inflation Concerns Rise
The gold price in India experienced significant fluctuations during the week of July 20-24, 2026. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold rose by ₹2,622 this week to reach ₹1,43,781 per 10 grams.
The rise in gold prices was influenced by geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran, rising crude oil prices, concerns regarding global inflation, and the upcoming US Federal Reserve meeting. Market experts believe that these factors have driven investor strategies towards safe-haven investments like gold.
Gold prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) witnessed continuous fluctuations during the week, with prices strengthening driven by international market trends and softening due to profit-booking. By the end of the week, MCX gold for August 5 delivery closed at ₹1,42,821 per 10 grams.
