Gold Prices Surge Amid Mixed US New Home Sales Data

Gold prices surged on Friday morning following the release of mixed U.S. new home sales data for June 2026. According to the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, new home sales rose by 1.6% last month, which was lower than the anticipated 3.4% gain.

The seasonally adjusted annualized rate for new home sales in June stood at 628,000 units, surpassing the market consensus forecast of 610,000 units. Additionally, May's sales figures were revised upward to 618,000 from the previously reported 580,000 units.

On a year-over-year basis, new home sales declined by 5.6% compared to the June 2025 rate of 665,000 units. The median sales price for new homes in June was $398,300, while the average sales price reached $475,000.
