The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) raised the price of gold by Tk2,216 per bhori on Monday, setting the new price of 22-karat gold at Tk223,074 per bhori. The increase was made due to a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.

The prices for other types of gold also saw an increase: 21-karat gold went up by Tk2,100 to Tk213,043 per bhori, while 18-karat gold rose by Tk1,750 to Tk182,950. The price of traditional gold ornaments was increased by Tk1,458 to Tk149,474 per bhori.

The new prices will remain effective at all jewellery outlets until further notice, although making charges will continue to vary according to design. Since VAT is included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, it cannot be charged separately from customers.
