Gold Prices Surge in Bangladesh Effective October 5 2026
On Monday, October 5, 2026, gold prices in Bangladesh saw a notable increase, following an announcement by the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) on September 30. The new prices, effective immediately, reflect a rise in the cost of various gold purities, measured per bhori (11.664 grams). For the highest quality 22-carat gold, the price surged by 2,216 taka, reaching 2,30,772 taka per bhori. Similarly, 21-carat gold increased by 2,099 taka to 2,20,391 taka, while 18-carat gold rose by 1,808 taka to 1,89,248 taka. Traditional Sonaton gold also saw an uptick of 1,458 taka, now priced at 1,54,606 taka per bhori.
The price adjustments were detailed in a notice from BAJUS, providing a breakdown for different unit measurements, such as ana. For instance, 1 ana of 22-carat gold now costs 14,423.25 taka, while 1 ana of 21-carat gold is priced at 13,774.44 taka. The association also highlighted that buyers must account for additional charges, including a 5% VAT and a minimum making charge of 3,500 taka per bhori when purchasing gold jewelry.
In addition to gold, silver prices in Bangladesh were also updated on October 5. The cost of 22-carat silver per bhori stands at 4,316 taka, while 21-carat silver is priced at 4,141 taka. For 18-carat silver, the price is 3,558 taka, and traditional silver is available at 2,683 taka per bhori. These updates ensure that consumers and investors have the latest information on precious metal prices in the Bangladeshi market.
