Gold Prices Surge on Weakening Inflation and Dollar
The price of gold has surged in August, rising 8% in under two weeks to around $4,400 an ounce.
This uptrend follows a 25% drop over five months earlier this year, when gold prices fell below $4,000 an ounce by mid-July.
According to some analysts, including investment bank UBS, the price of gold may continue to climb. Last week, they forecast that gold would reach $5,000 again in the first half of 2027.
The factors driving the gold price tend to be macroeconomic in nature, including inflation, currency movements, and monetary policy. With the likelihood of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike diminishing, many economists expect yields on Treasury securities to fall in the coming months.
