Gold prices plummeted to below $4,300 on concerns that the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates in response to increasing inflation. According to recent data, gold per ounce fell by 1.4% to $4,290 as of 1030GMT.

The drop in gold prices comes amid rising energy commodity prices, with Brent oil reaching around $108, a 19% increase from last month. European gas prices also soared by 35% month-on-month, reaching around €84 ($97) per megawatt-hour on Monday.

Last month, Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh signaled that additional monetary policy steps may be needed if inflation does not fall to the target level. Speaking at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium, Warsh noted that inflation remained too high, despite a resilient economy and growing artificial intelligence investments.
