Gold Prices Volatile Amid US Interest Rate Uncertainty
Gold prices have remained volatile in recent times, making it challenging for retail investors to decide when to buy. The price of 24-karat gold is currently hovering around ₹1.43 lakh per 10 grams in the domestic market, a nearly 20 percent drop from its January 2026 peak of ₹1.78 lakh.
The fluctuating prices are largely due to expectations surrounding US interest rates and movements in the dollar. The US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged last week has added to the uncertainty, with investors waiting for signals about its next policy move.
In this backdrop, small and regular digital gold purchases have gained ground as a safer option. Paytm Gold, for instance, allows customers to buy 24-karat digital gold at live market prices starting from ₹51, while Daily Gold SIPs enable them to make automatic purchases regularly.
