Gold, Silver Prices Rebound Amid Job Report Fallout
Gold and silver prices took turns on Monday as investors paused to assess the impact of last week's jobs report. The U.S. employment figures showed a decline in nonfarm payrolls, which lowered market-implied odds of a September Federal Reserve rate increase to 44%. As a result, Treasury yields slipped and the U.S. dollar retreated.
The greenback is currently showing strength, while Treasuries are trading around 4.6% yields. Market participants are awaiting key inflation releases this week, including the consumer price index on Wednesday and the producer price index on Thursday.
Geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to influence oil prices and demand for safe-haven assets. Iran's conditions for reopening the waterway include ending the blockade, providing compensation, relaxing sanctions, and unfreezing assets.
