Gold, Silver Prices Slide as Cultural Ties Strengthen Between US and China
Gold and silver futures closed lower on Monday at the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Gold for December delivery dropped 3.54 percent to settle at $4,168.40 per ounce, while silver futures for December delivery lost 4.76 percent to close at $61.718 per ounce.
The decline in precious metals prices contrasts with a recent visit by the wives of Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump to the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, D.C.
