Gold Sinks as Fed Hawkishness Reignites Dollar Strength
Gold prices dropped to around $4,319.39 on Tuesday as investors digested increasingly hawkish Federal Reserve commentary and rising Treasury yields.
The decline extended Monday's losses and pushed gold towards an important technical support zone near $4,318.
US gold futures fell to around $4,356, with the dollar index holding steady at 100.46, close to its recent seven-week high.
This combination of factors has weakened the argument that September's quarter-point Fed hike was a one-off adjustment.
