Gold Stagnant as Dollar Strength and Treasury Yields Weigh on Prices
Gold prices held steady on Friday but remained on track for a second consecutive weekly decline due to the strengthening US dollar and rising Treasury yields. The metal's value is closely tied to interest rate expectations, and investors are eagerly awaiting the release of US payrolls data for clues about the Federal Reserve's policy path.
The spot price of gold was little changed at $4,188.28 per ounce as of 0625 GMT, down over 2% for the week so far. In contrast, US gold futures rose 0.4% to $4,218.60.
Market participants are closely watching developments in the Middle East and interest rate expectations, according to Kyle Rodda, senior financial market analyst at Capital.com.
