Gold prices have remained above $4,000 an ounce despite recent pressure from higher Treasury yields and a stronger dollar. This unusual phase has put gold mining stocks back under the spotlight for US investors.

The key to choosing a stock lies in looking beyond the bullion price itself. Major US-listed names include Newmont (NEM), Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM), Barrick Mining (B), Franco-Nevada (FNV) and Wheaton Precious Metals (WPM).

Newmont is one of the largest gold producers in the US, with a recent production of 1.3 million attributable gold ounces in the second quarter of 2026. The company has also reported record free cash flow of $2.2 billion.

Other notable stocks include Agnico Eagle Mines, which produced 855,816 ounces of payable gold during the second quarter of 2026, and Franco-Nevada, a royalty and streaming company with a diversified portfolio across commodities and locations.
