Gold prices have surged on August 25, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has risen by ₹190 to reach ₹1.62 lakh.

The price of one kilogram of silver, however, has decreased by ₹1,945 to ₹2.43 lakh.

This marks a significant increase in the cost of gold, which has become costlier by ₹29 thousand so far this year. On December 31, 2025, 10g of gold was at ₹1.33 lakh, and it has now reached ₹1.62 lakh.

Similarly, silver was at ₹2.30 lakh per kg on December 31, 2025, which has now reached ₹2.43 lakh.

Anindya Banerjee, Senior VP and Head of Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, believes that gold will continue to see an upward trend even in difficult conditions ahead. If the situation improves, silver could also see a surge.
