Gold Surges Ahead of Pivotal Fed Decision
Gold prices surged on Wednesday as the US dollar weakened and oil costs retreated, setting the stage for a pivotal Federal Reserve decision that could reshape the metal's next move.
The precious metal gained 0.7% to trade at $4,324.36 an ounce by mid-morning in London, with U.S. gold futures for December delivery advancing 0.8% to settle near $4,365.
Analysts pointed out that the confluence of factors contributing to gold's short-term rebound includes easing dollar strength, a retreat in oil prices, and a dip in Treasury yields.
The Fed's rate decision is widely expected to reveal at least a quarter-point rate increase, which would mark a notable shift in the central bank's tightening stance. However, some analysts argue that persistent supply disruptions and elevated consumer prices could keep pressure on policymakers to maintain a hawkish tone, capping gold's upside in the near term.
