Gold Trapped in Trading Range Ahead of Fed Decision
Gold traders are waiting anxiously for the Federal Reserve's decision and press conference today. The current price of gold is stuck in a short-term trading range near $4,000, with bulls needing to reclaim $4,025 as the floor faces a test.
The August gold futures were trading at around $4,011, following a rejection from approximately $4,044-$4,045 earlier in the session. This high was not random, but rather developed almost exactly at Monday's value area high, where the market previously found the upper boundary of accepted value.
Gold is caught between nearby downside liquidity and a substantial resistance cluster overhead. With the Fed decision looming, traders must also account for the possibility that price crosses several technical levels rapidly before revealing its more durable direction.
