GoldBod Denies Rift with Bank of Ghana Over Asiama's Board Exit
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has denied claims of a rift with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) following Governor Dr Johnson Asiama's departure from its board of directors.
In a Facebook post, GoldBod stated that a 'wrong impression' was being created after Dr Asiama revealed he had resigned from the board about five months prior.
The BoG Governor had made this disclosure at the central bank's latest Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, where he explained he no longer attended GoldBod board meetings due to his workload.
According to GoldBod, Dr Asiama initially chose to serve personally on the board after its establishment but later nominated BoG's Second Deputy Governor, Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, to represent him in May 2026, as per Section 4(e) of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
