GoldBod Ditches BoG Mandate as DGPP Ends
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) is no longer purchasing gold on behalf of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), according to its CEO, Sammy Gyamfi. This change in mandate follows the end of the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP). The programme was initiated by the previous government.
Under the new arrangement, GoldBod has been given the authority to independently purchase and sell gold in Ghana. The institution will then provide the foreign exchange generated from its operations to the central bank.
Gyamfi emphasized that GoldBod is no longer involved with the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme, which was a key initiative of the previous government. He stated that anyone claiming otherwise is not being truthful.
